Can't believe I forgot to post this!

Last Thursday, on twitter, Traci Dinwiddie (@GrooveGoddess) was randomly pairing up people on twitter, as people were sending her messages about there they were from.

Behind a cut because it's not exactly tiny )

Other things I forgot to mention:

-> I passed my driving test a few weeks ago! The weekend after Halloween, I went home on the Friday night and did my test on the Saturday morning :D.

-> Memorabilia was awesome. I really must write up a more detailed post on it, including pictures (maybe tomorrow?) but suffice to say Rob Benedict is adorable, and I, obviously, did not develop a (not-so) slight obsession with Mark Pellegrino and spend most of the weekend trying to subtly stare at him from a distance, whilst not looking totally insane. Which is a lot harder than it sounds!

Oh, look, a fic meme I snagged off [info]cherie_morte!

The first ten people to comment here get a drabble of any pairing/character they want*, in any fandom (although, it's going to help if I'm even vaguely aware of said any fandom. Just sayin'! XD)

(I just know I'm going to regret saying that. *Eyes [info]timecake warily*)

So yeah, have at it! I'm off to have a shower and pack for Hellhounds and obviously I've finished packing and I've everything sorted for Hellhounds. Yup! *Shifty eyes*

1/10 prompts so far!

*Is Still Alive*

So sorry I haven't been around for the past - oh my freaking God, five weeks? Seriously? It's been that long? Oops!

My excuse is that I've been a little busy XD.

In those five weeks, I've moved to England (Eep!) and I've started my degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Birmingham (Which is going well so far, even though I should be doing more work. And I've a test next week I really should be revising for. Double eep!).

I'm living in the halls, and I know I complained about them when I first got word, but actually, I kind of really like them :). Of course, I'm not as fussed when it's cold and raining and I have to walk to the bus stop, and then from the bus stop I get off at into the Uni itself, but when it's not raining it's quite nice. My room isn't huge (I'd post pictures, but it's a little bit of a mess right now (Read: it looks like a bomb hit it and then a hurricane came through for good measure) so once I get it tidied I'll post a few pics. I do have my Supernatural poster up on my door (and a Bon Jovi one up on my wall!).

A few interesting things which have happened so far:
-> I have a lecturer who has actually managed to make thermodynamics fun (No, I didn't know it was possible either).
->There's another lecturer who reminds me of David Tennant, but I'm pretty sure I'm alone on that one. His lectures are also quite fun.
-> I went to Alton Towers! (On Saturday, in fact!) And I think I might have scared a few people slightly by loving rollercoasters a little too much, (specifically, this one.)
-> I missed meeting Eoin Colfer (one of my favourite authors) by fifteen bloody minutes. (Ahem. He started signing copies of his new book in Borders at half one, I had a lecture on Darwin at two. I made it to Borders at about ten past three, and was informed I'd just missed him. I was not a happy bunny)
-> Related to the above point: I've started reading the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, and I love it, it's just so delightfully random! :D!

Also: HELLHOUNDS NEXT WEEK OMFG!!!!!

Also Also: BON JOVI ARE PLAYING AT THE O2 ARENA NEXT YEAR EEEEEEEK! I LOVE Bon Jovi. They're my favourite band of all time - AND they're on X-Factor next week! (And I kinda might be leaving Hellhounds an hour or two early to see them perform. But, see, they're BON JOVI!)

Also Also Also: Anybody watch X-Factor? I'm totally addicted this year! And I love John and Edward. I shouldn't love John and Edward, because they can't sing at all, but they're entertaining as hell!

(Also also also ALSO: According to the 'detect' button, I'm in Manchester. It's... really not very good at detecting, is it?)

I was supposed to do my driving test today. It was at ten to nine in the morning, and I left at half seven to get another lesson in first.

And, of course, on the way to Cookstown (where the test center is) it started getting foggy. And, apparently, if it's too foggy, tests get canceled. Guess whose test got canceled? Yep, mine.

This is a kind of major problem because I'm moving to England on Sunday, and they couldn't fit me in before that, not even on Saturday. I'll be back home the weekend after Halloween, so they're going to try to get me a test on that Saturday. Except, of course, they don't do tests every Saturday, only on certain Saturdays, so it isn't even guaranteed I'll get a test then. (Plus, you have to pay extra for a test on a weekend or after five O'clock). And if I don't get one then, I won't get it until I'm home for Christmas. And, of course, if I don't pay for a few lessons over in Birmingham, I won't be driving until I get back home again. (Although, my driving instructor is awesome and he says he'll take me out for a lesson no matter what time I get back on the Friday evening in November.)

The thing that is annoying me slightly is this: why wouldn't they want to do tests in foggy conditions? If I can pass my test in fog, I can damn well drive in good conditions, you know? But hey, it's Health and Safety gone mad, I suppose.

On a different note, I was at the school awards ceremony tonight. I got a highly commended of my A-level results (which kinda surprised me) and I cup for "Most Improved" which really surprised me as, as far as I can tell, I haven't really improved on anything. Sure, my A-level results were better than my AS results, but not remarkably so. I don't recall being much different. My concentration's better, maybe? But I'm still coming up kinda blank here.

Funny thing was, I got a trophy. For this "Most Improved" thing. But it was an official school trophy, so it isn't allowed out of the school. So they present it to you on the stage, but give you a little mini trophy to go with it ( Here, have a picture of it. Yes, that is my laoptop and rather messy desk.), and once you step off the stage, you give the big trophy to the person at the bottom of the stairs and you get to keep the little one.

Then, after, they serve tea/coffee and biscuits in the canteen, and somewhere along the way Mum and Dad ended up telling the guest speaker and one of the teachers (and also possibly the Principal) about the time when Dad was supposed to leave me off at the childminder's when I was a baby, and when he got there and went to get me out of the back of the car, only to realise he'd left me at the house. It is a funny story, though. And I got a handshake and a hug from one of my favourite old teachers :D.

So, overall, a rather successful night!

And OOH! SPN in a few hours! I'm debating staying up to download it, as hopefully it'll be up pretty quickly after it airs, instead of going to bed and getting up really early like I normally do.

I got a new phone yesterday (the Blackberry Curve 8520), complete with new number. My mother suggested that instead of just texting them my new number, I texted them today when we would be watching the new ep of Supernatural (MIND=BLOWN is the only reaction I can come up with at the present moment in time) saying something along the lines of "I like your shoes/shirt/whatever, red/blue/yellow suits you" to freak them out.

... So you see, it's all Mum's fault really.

Well, I took this idea, and well, expanded on it. [info]timecake was the first to arrive at mine, so I asked to see her BlackBerry, and said that I was thinking of getting one and could I have a look at hers? So I saved my number into her phone... under 'Lucifer'. You see where this is going, don't you?

Thing is? When I was typing in the number, I left a digit out! And I didn't realise it at the time!

I did the same thing with [info]winchester_anon's phone, fortunately putting the number in right this time. When our other friend, Steph arrived, I didn't get to her phone, but I sent her the first message anyway, but I don't think she got it as her phone plays up sometimes.

Anyone care to guess what the first message I sent to all three of them was?

"I'm coming." Yeah, imaginative, huh?

Anyway, Steph's phone was playing up and [info]winchester_anon didn't have her phone in her hand, but [info]timecake did. We then proceeded to have the following conversation:

Her: Who is this?
Me: Check your contacts.
Her: There's no name under the number
Me: You sure?
Her: Yeah, who is this?
Me: I like your bag. Red's a nice colour.

At which point she kinda freaked out and shouted to the room, "WHO'S DOING THIS?!?" (The people in the room being me, her, [info]winchester_anon, Steph, my little brother, and his two friends).

So [info]winchester_anon said for her to give her the number, and she typed it into her phone to check if she had the number saved. Which, of course, she did.

Del: O.O;;; It's coming up as 'Lucifer'!

Several 'WHAAAT?'s followed, plus Sarah-Louise double-checking (and triple-freaking out), and this lasted until they noticed me off to the side laughing my head off. Because really, their expressions were priceless.

At this point, we were forced to pause Supernatural as Sarah-Louise leapt across the room and tried to strangle me when I showed her my new BlackBerry (However, she did admit later that it was funny. Yes, Lulers, you did! LOL!). Del, on the other hand, hit me for not including her in the whole thing, and then high-fived me.

Y'know, it probably sounds a lot less funny if you weren't there. I'm kinda really regretting not double-checking the number, but what can you do?

Also, I'm now saved in Del's phone as 'Lucifer' and in Sarah-Louise's as 'Áine (Lucy)' But I've probably asked for that one.

I got my accommodation offer today. It's in Hunter Court. I'm not particularly happy with it. See, I'd really hoped for Jarratt Hall, or Mason. I'm ont happy mostly because they managed to put me in the one hall that is a- privately owned, b- 3km from the University, c- Doesn't have a free bus service to and from the University, and d- absolutely nowhere near a train station. I won't have a car, so I can't drive (and even if I did have a car and had passed my test, there is no chance I'd actually drive in the city. I have problems with the traffic lights downtown, for flip's sake!).

I mean, seriously. How did they manage to put me in the one hall that has all of that? Even the other privately owned halls are close to train stations. Mum phoned the Uni earlier to complain, and all she was told was "There are regular bus services" and that "All other halls are full". GYAH. I'm going to have to phone up the people that own these halls and interrogate them about bus times and prices and stuff. I hate phoning people like that. I always forget the questions I need to ask and GRYAAH! Not pleased. In the slightest.

At least the rooms are en suite, and there's free internet access, right?

Now for something somewhat cheerier: My Dad has a part as an extra in the film "Your Highness" (IMDB link here) which is filming in Belfast. He's a monk, complete with long robe and red wig (This is doubly hilarious if you actually know my father, TBQH). Anyway, day before yesterday, he saw James Franco - well, he was in a crowd scene with James Franco - who is apparently rather handsome (hee!) and yesterday he was in a scene with Zooey Deschanel, and he was beside her. So Dad said hi. She's apparently rather small :D.

There was also this one other guy Dad saw, in a scene reading from a piece of parchment or something, and he thought his voice sounded familiar. When I IMDBed the guy later, turns out he was the voice of Dobby the House Elf in the Harry Potter films.

*Sigh* I might go play Sims 3 for a bit, or watch Sherlock Holmes. I should be phoning halls or sorting out my student loan, but I'm not in the mood :(. (Fun thing I've discovered in Sims 3 - Sims can actually get pregnant by their Uncles, as long as they're not biologically related. So one of Sam's twins had a baby with Castiel, and despite both parents having brown hair, she's rather inexplicably blonde.)

One link before I go: My new favourite website is http://www.jaredpadaleckisass.com/. I spent a considerable amount of time last night giggling at that.

(Oh, the 'detect' option's back. And I'm unable to be detected. Tell that to the IT in Carlow.)

24 August 2009 @ 01:24 am
Sorry for having disappeared this past few days, guys! I've had quite an eventful few days :)

I managed to get accepted into my course at the University of Birmingham! Last Thursday I did several other things too: Got my A-level results (ABCC - A in bio, B in physics, and Cs in French and chem - although, how I managed to do better in physics than in French is beyond me entirely), went to Belfast with [info]winchester_anon and forgot my coat, and discovered that it was raining rather heavily in Belfast. Luckily I had an umbrella, but I still got rather wet, went out for a meal, discovered that a cousin of mine is in California for a few weeks and no one told me, and I also got sick.

Friday, I went to Ballymena with Mum despite feeling like Hell, because she and Dad had sent my student finance form away, but hadn't realised they needed to send my passport with it. So, since we were there, we went to the shops, and I (Well, by 'I' I mean 'Mum') bought 'The Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes'. Came home, had a nap, and made a start on that book.

Spent a good portion of yesterday at my friend Steph's, as I couldn't sleep over at her house the two nights before, mostly due to looking and feeling like I'd crawled my way out of Hell. Also, I watched X-Factor. I'm not missing any of this series, no matter how much Danni Minogue (or however you spell her name) annoys the Hell out of me, mostly because I love Simon (because he's such a prat, TBH) and Louis (I don't have an excuse for liking him really).

Ah, what else? The parents and the little brother have left me home alone for the night, as they're back off to Kilkenny for a friend's 25th Jubilee or something, and I couldn't go because I have various Uni-related things to do tomorrow. So I've had a lovely quiet night sitting reading more of Sherlock Holmes.

I also now ship Holmes/Watson. I am quite proud of myself, though, I didn't really ship them until Holmes in (I think it was 'The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier') said (or rather, wrote) "I miss my Watson". I miss my Watson. And, well, how was I supposed to hold up against that? (Yes, that quote was ridiculously out of context, but the point still stands, dammit!)

Also, my internet is going amazingly slow, for some reason. This annoys me!

Congratulations to anybody else who has received (or will be receiving) results!

Side note: LJ have taken the 'Detect Location' feature away again. Obviously I wasn't the only one it wasn't working for.

11 August 2009 @ 11:23 pm
I'm currently in my hotel room in Kilkenny. Really lovely hotel. That's actually not why I'm writing this, however. I managed to get myself into a situation that was both very unfortunate and amazingly hilarious.

We were eating out with a friend and when we finished the meal, the rest stayed because there was supposed to be music playing, and I went back to the hotel by myself. Got back to the hotel no bother, and went up to the room I'm sharing with Niall. I turn on the TV, make myself at home, and then go into the bathroom, and I locked the door behind myself.

... And then the door wouldn't unlock again. And I tried the door a pile of times, fiddled with the lock, everything, but no luck. I had managed, somehow to lock myself into the bathroom! And, of course, family were still out in a pub.

Luckily, I had Mum's phone in my pocket (Dad gave it to me to text him when I got back to the hotel since they have some plan where they can call and text each other free) and managed eventually to get hold of Dad, who said that they were on their way back.

I had my DS in my bag, complete with '100 classic books' and was getting into some Charles Dickens when I thought I heard noises outside the door. I thought it must have been the TV, so I ignored it, it stopped, and I went back to 'A Christmas Carol'. Next thing I know, there's a mad at the other side of the door telling me to twist the lock, and what do you know, it opened.

What had actually happened was that Niall had tried to get into the room, but his keycard wasn't working and wouldn't let him in. The one working keycard was sitting in the hotel room, where, obviously, neither of us could reach it, so I was locked in and he was locked out. *Facepalm*

So Niall'd gone down to reception and got someone to get the hotel room door open, and then to fix the lock on the bathroom door, which has apparently done this before.

To make things even better, Mum and Dad were standing outside the room for all of this, laughing their heads off.

(Also, halfway through writing this entry, I went down to the hotel bar for a drink, and, taking advantage of my now-over-eighteen status, ordered a Sex on the Beach. The barman put all the ingredients in the glass and the mixer over it, shook it, then couldn't get the mixer thing off. They nearly smashed the glass trying to get it out, until some woman came out and managed to separate them using a dishcloth.)

Áine: Systematically destroying the hotel one door and glass at a time.

(Also, lj location doesn't seem to know where 'Kilkenny' is. Someone needs to inform them I'm nearly two hours away from Dublin.)

Out of interest, is there anyone that doesn't know the new casting spoiler yet? I'm not going to say it, but I discovered (through [info]timecake, although she didn't actually tell me, but still.) it, and was rather annoyed and the two of us had a most confusing conversation referring to the whole ordeal and "the thing that we DO NOT KNOW." Then, of course, it popped up in one of my RSS feeds today, so I'd have found out anyway. *Facepalm*

Sorry I haven't been really about for the past while, but my internet's been very screwy lately. I use my laptop in my bedroom, you see, and we have wifi, so usually I have no problems at all. But lately, the internet upstairs will randomly either decide to go amazingly slowly (I'm talking ten minutes to load a page) or just stop altogether. When I check the computer downstairs, internet's fine on it. (The reason I don't use that computer, apart from the parents and bro being on it quite a lot, is because I'm so used to using my lovely and generally-very-fast laptop, using the PC now just feels wrong.) Even weirder is the fact that despite not being able to access websites half the time, I can still download things and run programs like spotify. It's fantastically odd. 0.o;

Also, my little brother has the bright idea of hooking the laptop up to our TV in the sitting room via HDMI cable - the result being me playing Sims 3 on a 46-inch widescreen. It's brilliant!.

Also, everybody should totally join [info]spnland! It's a competition where four teams compete for points, and great fun XD. Also? Team Sam FTW!

I'm ba-ack! Well, actually, I've been back since Thursday night, but I only got around to doing something with the photos I took in London today.

(Actually, scrap that. I made a slideshow, but apparently lj doesn't like it, so it's not coming through. Looks like you're going to have to wait even longer. *sigh*)

Also, I went to see Harry Potter in the cinema on Friday night. It was okay (was expecting worse from the way I've heard people talk about it, TBH), but I went to a special showing for Autism NI. And guess what? They had owls! Real owls! Who were adorable and cute and fluffy.

So, I have pictures of them too! )

Other things:

I passed my driving theory test! Hopefully, I'll be booking the other test soon, as Mum wants me to have it before I leave for Birmingham in September. She told me to tell Seamus (my driving instructor) what I better have passed it by the 20th. So I better have passed it (or at least taken it) by then.

[info]timecake got home from the London Film and Comic con today, and she got me a Michael Shanks autograph! :D Thank you, sweetie!

*Has just discovered my moodtheme isn't working* DAMMIT!

... Also, I pressed that new 'Detect' button for my location, and it came up 'United Kingdom, Sheffield'. I'm in Sheffield? News to me.

-> I'm off to London tomorrow! :D Last time I was in London was... just over seven years ago, for a school trip in P7. Interestingly enough, my year was the last time the school did a London trip. I didn't think we were that bad, but what do I know? (I don't remember much, apart from finding rat poison in the hostel room we were staying in. So we got to play musical bedrooms for the two nights we were there. Fun times!) Anyways, I shall be back on Thursday. (Plus, we're going to see Chicago in the West End! Should be very awesome!)

-> I booked my Hellhounds ticket! Well, actually, I booked it ages ago, and forgot to post about it. The hotel it's in is actually more expensive than the Hilton Asylum's in :( ) But I looked up hotels, and all the other ones nearby are approximately the same price, so we don't really mind. (And by 'we' I mean myself and [info]winchester_anon, who's coming with :D.) So, anybody else going?

-> Continuing the saga of 'Niall and Lauren-the-drum-kit', Niall and a few of his friends decided to form a band, despite the fact they're currently lacking a singer. They chose a name, and were devastated to find that such a band already existed, and had a wikipedia page. Niall, in what was not one of his brighter moments, decided to edit this wikipedia page, to reflect his band. He showed it to me, I promptly screamed, and, of course, corrected all the spelling and grammar mistakes on said page (You know, what any sane person would do *shifty eyes*). Then wikipedia changed it back (I believe I may have shouted something along the lines of 'THANK EFFING GOD!') and warned us that any further edits could get us banned from editing wikipedia.

Niall, in another of his not-so-bright moments, changes it again. This time, I didn't even bother correcting the grammar, and took a screenshot instead, so I can prove I'm not totally insane. (Funnily enough, someone later added the line, "I have it on good authority that you guys stole this page from the real band." to it. Thank you, Captain Obvious! You've saved the day again! If I may ask, what exactly was it that tipped you off?)

... And that's the story of how my little brother quite possibly got us banned from editing wikipedia ever again. I'm still waiting for my sainthood, XD.

-> I'm far, far, too addicted to Sims 3 and Supernatural for it to be healthy.

... You see where this is going, don't you?

I have way, way many photos of my Simchesters (Sam, Dean, Jess and Castiel, BTW) to even consider putting up pictures right now, but I'll do a picspam sometime :).

(They're ADORABLE, though! Sam'n'Dean are each others best friend (along with, you know 'brother'), Sam and Jess are married with a current count of ... I think it's five kids (Mary-Ellen, Morgan, Jeffrey Dean, Ash, and Jo) and Jess wants more, while Dean and Cas got married and have just adopted their first (John)(I have really original naming techniques, you see). Plus, Dean's an astronaut, Castiel was a mad scientist until he quit so he could spend more time on his garden and son, Sam writes books about his and Dean's time hunting, and Jess (apart from having kid after kid after effing kid) paints so much she makes more money than the rest of the household combined.)

My little brother has gotten a drum set.

He's been wanting one for the past four years (well, he says four years, but it's only recently he discovered he had a chance of getting them), but, thing is, they're kinda loud.

Well, I can't hear them right now, but that's because I've currently, ahem, 'borrowed' his expensive headphones to drown them out.

So, he's set up in our garage with Mum and Dad, experimenting with various drums in different positions and heights.

*Sigh*. In the shop (Mr Drums if anyone's interested - apparently Ireland's leading drum specialist) Niall was sitting going, "Ooh! Look at this! Isn't this awesome? Check this out!"

I took him aside and said, "Ni, sweetie? Remember a few years ago, we went to Rome on holiday? And we went to the Vatican? Remember how to get to the Sistine Chapel? You had to go through all these corridors with all these paintings and statues? And remember how I wanted to stop and look at them, but everybody else wanted to go on and get to the end? Well, these drums are your paintings! We only really care about the ones we're taking home!"

And Niall looks at me and goes, "Well, you can't HUG your paintings!"

So he reaches over, and, swear-to-God, HUGS this stack of drums beside him.

Me: *FACEPALM*

One benefit of this for me, though? The parents have said they'll buy me a pair of good, noise-canceling headphones, since my old (well, I say 'old', I got them at Christmas, and one of the speakers snapped off in February) Skullcandy ones broke.

So now I gotta go price them :D

(I do feel rather sorry for our next door neighbours, who I doubt own several pairs of said headphones)

Right, so I just had the most bizarre dream ever (which is weird on two levels - I almost never remember my dreams anyway) and I really wanted to write it down here before I forget everything!

Right, so it involved Me, my Mum, my little brother, and my little brother's friends in my house. Two of his friends went outside for something, I don't know what, or who they were, but one was wearing light blue pajamas and the other dark blue. They were away for a really long time, and everybody started to get worried. My brother and the rest of his friends went out to look for them, and came back shouting about how they'd seen this giant gorilla holding little bits of light blue cloth.

Then the gorilla attacked the house and went on a rampage and tried to eat everybody. And it was a seriously giant gorilla, like, twice my height. So everybody went a bit mental. We tried phoning Stephen Hawking to come help us (although, how he'd be able to help I'm not really sure) and his secretary said something along the lines of "He's much too busy to come to you!" and he overheard and went "When was the last time I actually finished a thesis? I'm going."

(He never did arrive, BTW)

After another while of rampaging, the gorilla cornered me in the sitting room, where I was eating an apple. And he went to pick me up in his massive hands, and I told him that I wouldn't taste very good, and gave him the rest of the apple to eat instead. He liked it, so I took him into the kitchen and gave him another apple, and I started peeling an orange for him.

Then my little brother came in the back door talking about how he'd gone to the school for help, but Mr McErlean (good-looking past biology teacher of mine, who doesn't even teach at our school any more) had fallen over, and Niall (my bro) had asked Jensen Ackles to come and help him pick Mr McErlean up. And then Niall saw the gorilla, and I never found out if Jensen had helped him up or not.

So Niall stopped mid-sentence when he saw the gorilla, and one of Niall's friends coming in behind him went "Well, at least we didn't see the gorilla any- oh."

... And then I woke up.

My subconscious is seriously messed up. Did you know [info]timecake has dreams where she's Jared Padalecki's girlfriend? And all I get are giant, man-eating gorillas.

(BTW, according to dreammoods.com,

"To see a gorilla in your dream, suggests that you may be too "over the top" in your behavior. Perhaps you are compensating for your rigidity and stiffness in your waking life. Alternatively, the gorilla symbolizes your primitive impulses, wild nature and repressed sexual energy."

And...

"To dream that you are eating an apple, denotes harmony, pleasure, and fertility. In a biblical sense, eating an apple symbolizes your sexual appetite and awareness and lustful desires as associated with the apple in the Garden of Eden."

... I'm getting worried here, guys!)
